Joystick setup
I just downloaded a payed version oF SUIPC, I was having problems with my hardware going crazy and planes falling of the sky. I was hopping that FSUIPC was the solution to get the right assingments and avoid duplicated settings. However, I found out FSUIPC is very hard to use, for an amateur like me, I do not understand how to make the assignments, nor what all those numbers mean. Maybe I need to learn more about the program, or perhaps you can came out with a more user friendly solution for us slow learners. Sincerely Carlos By Carlos
FSUIPC 3
Doesn't Dowson get paid twice? Addon companies and program makers pay for the privilege of using his software also. We should look for an alternative and give that alternative proper support by donation. By Bert Bogle
Payware, continued
As I have mentioned before, the latest version of FSUIPC is no longer "donationware" as the former versions were. Also, if you upgrade to FS 9 (2004 ACOF), you MUST upgrade to the latest version of FSUIPC for many add-ons and third party aircraft panels and functions to work at all. My only gripe was that in my previous version of FS (2002 Pro), there was no warning that the latest version required payment. This is not to say that I think Dawson doesn't deserve to be paid for his work, in fact I think he should be paid. Dawson did attempt to solicite donations to help him with what I'm sure was a fairly expensive project, but the donations apparently barely scratched the surface of what his costs were, let alone for his time. I can understand why he decided to go commercial, I just wished there had been some sort of warning to end users that installation required a significant fee be paid. The cost estimate in my previous post was a direct quote from Dawson's site, based upon the value of the dollar against the Euro at the time. Given the continued freefall of the dollar, the price is certain to go up. I paid $29.99 for 2002 Pro, and $39.99 for ACOF. FSUIPC remains at above $40.00 at last check, which is more than the base programs cost. While some freeware developers are trying to come up with alternatives, however, FSUIPC still remains the best option, if you can afford it. I guess next time a freeware developer asks for financial help to support their work, we'll all chip in. By Deborah Lipsitz
