A TACA Airlines 767 approaching high and fast under heavy rain in guatemala city airport. Apparently spoilers failed to deploy because of water/skiding in the runway.

If you are hydroplaning the ONLY thing that is effective is reverse thrust. The spoilers did deploy as shown in the video. Landing too fast in bad weather is a common problem.. remember AA at Little Rock in a thunderstorm?

It wouldn't've mattered...
As stated, the plane was going too fast and used up considerable runway; At such speed and the tires hydroplaning, thrust reversers would have done no good at all; It might've even complicated the situation. The fact that only 3 people were injured out of hundreds on board either testifies to the quality of the large 767 or just to sheer luck.
