Which maiden flight are you talking about? Tiltrotor's were built back in the 50's by Bell. It started in 1954. Aircraft have crashed on maiden flights before, it happens. What about all the aircraft that have crashed "AFTER" maiden flights? Not all of them were mechanical and many are pilot error. On average, crashes are caused by 21% mechanical failure and 53% pilot error. This excludes military aircraft. You ask " How many had a crash EVER?" but you don't give any numbers and you can't say "none have". You have to try to imply it to give it validity in the midst of your lack of knowledge on the subject. Is it any worse if they crash after a maiden flight? This is an aircraft that is unique to anything ever flown before. Aircraft are often pushed to their limits and beyond...and crashes happen. Mechanical failures happen too...and are corrected. Even PROVEN aircraft crash, and often, so why not carry on about that? Compare the numbers to commercial airliners for example. Pick an aircraft, any aircraft, and those numbers total more than the V-22's, what, 4 crashes? All crashes are serious, but it happens and it's sad when it does. Nobody wants it to, ever. This is probably one of the most advanced air craft systems of it's kind and there is nothing like it out there. The military guys who have flown in it and use it daily in Iraq, love it. It flys faster, farther, higher, longer and with more payload than anything that can do the same. So, why not turn your energies to something more positive, like how many lives it will save. How it gets the troops in and out of combat better than anything they've ever had before. How about how many safe hours of flight time it has had? Why not give an example of any other aircraft that has been the safest test bed in aircraft history, if not the V-22.

No it's not the safest
The statement "Also the v-22 is the safest test bed in aircraft history" is ludicrous. Of the hundreds of different aircraft systems that have been fielded over the last century, how many have crashed on their maiden test flight? How many had a crash EVER? Comparing the V-22's multiple crashes (and resulting program delays and fleet groundings) to one of these other aircraft programs that have NEVER had a crash by saying "the v-22 is the safest test bed in aircraft history" is just ludicrous ignorance. If maiden test flight crashes were commonplace, this website would have hundreds and hundreds of videos, not simply dozens of videos.
